How the camel got its hump
Summary:
In the beginning of the year,when the world is new all the animals started working for man.There was a camel living in the middle of the howling desert because he don't want to work.He ate sticks and thorns and tamarisks and milkweed and prickles.
He said himself " Howler".He always said 'Hump!'The horse came to him in sunday morning with saddle on his back and bit in his mouth and asked him to "trot like the rest of us".'Hump!' said the camel. The dog came to him with a stick in his mouth and asked him to "fetch and carry like the rest of us".'Hump!' said the camel. The ox came to him with yoke on his neck and asked him to "plough like the rest of us".'Hump!' said the camel. The animals told this to the man.At the end of the man called the animals and asked them to work double times a day because of the camel.They got angry and held a palaver,an indaba,a panchayat and pow-pow on the edge of the desert.The camel came chewing milkweed,laughed at them and said hump.There came the Djinn in charge of all desert rolling in a cloud of dust.They complaint him to the Djinn.When Djinn met the camel he was seeing his own reflection on the water.Djinn asked him about the complaint.He replied hump.The Djinn sat down and think on a magic.The next time he said hump his back puffing up into great big lolloping.Today is thusday and you have been free since monday morning.You should do the three days work that you have missed said the Djinn. How? asked the camel. The hump is for the purpose you can work without food and water for three days said the Djinn.From that day camel started working but never caught the three days that he missed at the beginning of the world.
